English Round the Campfire Guidelines

Hello Friend!

We are excited to help you practice and improve your English skills. To do this, we need to have a comfortable place for everyone. So there are some important rules that we all need to follow.

No Making People Feel Bad

Please do not say things that try to make people feel bad about their race, their religion, or their culture. If you show us that you want to say rude things about race, religion, or culture, we will ban you from the classes.

No Sexual topics

These classes have men and women in them from many places. These conversations should not include topics, jokes, or comments about sex in any way. If you speak about these things, you will receive one private warning. After that, if you do it again, you will be banned from future classes.

No Unkind Comments

You already know that you cannot try to make people feel bad about race, religion, or culture. Also, these conversations should not include rude or unkind comments about other things or other people. We want to help people reduce shyness and improve confidence, so they must feel safe. We know that it is sometimes difficult to understand when you are saying rude things in English, so if you break this rule one time, you will receive a private warning. If you break the rule again, you will be banned from future classes.

No Bad Language

We do not allow bad words in these classes. Many people feel that bad words are harmful and rude. We understand that sometimes you do not know that a word is bad, so if you break this rule one time, you will receive a private warning. If you break the rule again, you will be banned from future classes.

No Questions About English

These are group conversation classes, and everyone needs a chance to speak. So there is no time to answer questions about English: for example, grammar questions. If you have a question, please send a private message to the teacher, and she can suggest a resource or tell you about a way that she can help you get the answer. If you break this rule one time, the subject will be changed, and the whole class will be reminded that it is not a place for questions. If you break the rule again, the teacher will decide if she wants to ban you only from that class, or from future classes.

Important: Please Understand

We want you to understand that these rules are to make the classes comfortable, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone: students, and teachers. They are not to create a dictatorship. But they are important rules, so please follow them. And this is also important: relax, have fun, and practice, practice, practice.
